Thirty-one year old Grace Ellery survived being stabbed multiple times in Ohio. Two years later, she moves to Murray, Virginia to get a new lease on life.

On her first day of substitute teaching, her new life is nearly cut short when she finds herself in the middle of a shooting that leaves a married couple dead. Luckily, she is saved by Sam Meadows, a cardiologist, but the shooter has disappeared by the time the police come around.

When the shooter tries to kill Grace again, Sam and Grace realize that the killer won’t stop until she is dead. With a killer who has nothing to lose, the question isn't if the killer will attack again, but when and who will be in the cross-hairs. A romance/murder-mystery wrapped in the aspects of life: love, family, forgiveness, danger, and death.

As with one of the books I have previously reviewed here, this story is written in multiple first person views - which again I found disconcerting.

The characters and plot line in Teacher Beware are not very strong and could have had a lot more fleshing out. More research should have been put into the key elements of the story - the guns used by the murderer, and police investigation procedures.

There is no explanation of the tie between Grace's past experience of being stabbed, and the current experience of being targeted by the murderer - and yet, her prior stabbing continues to be raised within the story (Are the stabber and the murderer related? Is it the same person? Are they friends, cousins, brothers? Were they in prison or detention together?)

The relationships between the characters were extremely flimsy, and in the instance of Grace and Sam, had no more foundation than the fact that Sam came to Grace's aid - and the aid of the first two murder victims.

The motivations for the murders was extremely unclear - aside from the fact the murderer was concerned about the future and had family members who had been killed in military service (neither of which are a genuine motivation in my opinion).

All in all, while it was a fast read (for me) - it left me feeling very dissatisfied.
